Lion's Head Hike
Cape Town
The Lion's Head hike is one of the quintessential things to see and do in Cape Town, offering a thrilling ascent to one of the city's iconic peaks. Starting at the parking lot at Signal Hill Road, the trail winds through rocky paths and wooden steps, with fragrant fynbos along the way.
The spiral trail offers sweeping views of the city, Table Mountain, Devils Peak, the Twelve Apostles, the sparkling coastline and the world-famous Robben Island. Near the top, the path narrows, leading to an exhilarating scramble to the summit.
On top you’re rewarded with spectacular 360-degree views, perfect for sunrise or sunset. The hike is also popular during the full moon. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a first-time adventurer, Lion's Head offers an unforgettable experience of Cape Town's natural beauty.
Note: Some sections are exposed and may be challenging for those nervous with heights, especially the metal chains and staples to ascend the “cheek” of the lion. This can be bypassed by an alternate route to the left.
